Production has begun on Netflix’s upcoming rom-com, Mother of the Bride. The film is directed by Mark Waters (He’s All That, Mean Girls) and written by Robin Bernheim (The Princess Switch Series of Films). The cast includes Brooke Shields (Pretty Baby, A Castle for Christmas), Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly, Despicable Me), Benjamin Bratt (Poker Face, Dead for a Dollar), Rachael Harris (Lucifer, Suits), Sean Teale (Rosaline), Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill, Sullivan’s Crossing), Wilson Cruz (Star Trek: Discovery), and Michael McDonald (God’s Favorite Idiot, MADtv).
The film follows Lana (Shields), a single mother whose daughter Emma (Cosgrove) returns from a year abroad in London with a major flex: she’s getting married. On an island. In a month! Things only get worse when Lana discovers that the mystery man who stole her daughter’s heart just so happens to be the son of the man who broke hers years ago.
Mother of the Bride is a heartwarming and funny story about love, family, and second chances. It is sure to be a hit with audiences of all ages when it premieres on Netflix later this year.
In addition to the cast, the film’s producers include Brad Krevoy, Amanda Phillips, Robin Bernheim, Jimmy Townsend, and Galen Fletcher.
