Arc System Works Drops Massive Announcements at EVO 2025, Including New Characters for Guilty Gear -Strive- and UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II

The fighting game world is buzzing after a weekend of high-octane action at EVO 2025, and Arc System Works was at the heart of it all, dropping a flurry of game-changing announcements for its biggest titles. From a new character for Guilty Gear -Strive- to a highly anticipated reveal for HUNTERxHUNTER NENxIMPACT, the future of the fighting genre has never looked brighter.

The biggest news came from the world of Guilty Gear -Strive-. The critically acclaimed 2.5D fighting game has officially surpassed a monumental 3.5 million players worldwide! To celebrate this incredible milestone, Arc System Works unveiled the next playable character, Lucy, who is set to join the roster on Aug. 21, 2025. Fans are already speculating about her fighting style and how she will shake up the meta. With Guilty Gear -Strive- available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows, it’s a great time for both new and veteran players to jump into the action.


The hype train didn’t stop there. The upcoming fighter HUNTERxHUNTER NENxIMPACT gave fans a taste of what’s to come with a brand-new teaser trailer. The reveal showcased the eerie and powerful Neferpitou, who is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2025. Additionally, Arc System Works teased three more downloadable content characters with shadowed silhouettes and their release windows, leaving fans to theorize who will be joining the fray next.


Finally, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes fans got a new character announcement of their own. Izumi, a technical fighter who commands a fish entity named Elefee and manipulates water powers, is ready to make a splash. Izumi will be available on Aug. 19, 2025, for Steam, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and on Aug. 21, 2025, for Nintendo Switch.
