Prime Video is officially giving us the origin story we didn’t know we needed. The streaming giant just pulled the curtain back on “Young Sherlock,” dropping the first teaser trailer and official art for the highly anticipated series. No cap, this isn’t your grandfather’s Baker Street detective; this Sherlock is young, reckless, and ready to get his hands dirty.
The eight-episode series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on March 4, 2026.
Directed and executive produced by visionary filmmaker Guy Ritchie, the show stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin (of “After” fame) as a 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes. This reimagining finds the iconic detective way before he became a household name. In this version, Sherlock is a disgraced young man—raw, unfiltered, and caught up in a murder case at Oxford University that puts his freedom on the line.

Main Character Energy in the 1870s
The series is set to take viewers on a global ride, moving from the academic halls of 1870s Oxford to international locales. According to the studio, the plot involves a “globe-trotting conspiracy” that forces the anarchic adolescent to evolve into the genius we all know.
Ritchie, who previously directed the “Sherlock Holmes” feature films starring Robert Downey Jr., is back in his bag for this one. He directed the first two episodes and serves as executive producer, ensuring the series keeps that signature high-octane energy and witty banter he’s known for.

A Star-Studded Lineup
The cast is stacked with heavy hitters, making this a certified “must-watch.” Joining Hero Fiennes Tiffin are:
- Colin Firth (“The King’s Speech”)
- Joseph Fiennes (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
- Zine Tseng (“3 Body Problem”)
- Dónal Finn (“The Wheel of Time”)
- Natascha McElhone (“Halo”)
- Max Irons (“Condor”)
Matthew Parkhill serves as the showrunner and creator, leading a production team that includes executive producers Dhana Rivera Gilbert and Marc Resteghini.
Global Reach
When the series drops on March 4, it won’t just be a U.S. thing. Prime Video is pulling up in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, making this a global event.
If you’re looking for a mystery that’s “high-key” intense and “low-key” brilliant, mark your calendars. The game is officially afoot—just a little earlier than we’re used to.
